Your privacy

Updated 4 October 2026. This policy covers the Twine website and mobile apps provided by After Dinner Software. Contact hello@playtwine.com with privacy questions or data requests.

Your game stays on your device

Twine has no account or advertising. Your progress, results, streak, appearance, sound settings and optional sharing name are saved locally. The website uses browser storage; the apps use their own storage. Progress stays separate between them.

Downloaded puzzles are saved for offline play. The apps can retain a previous copy of saved data to recover an interrupted write. Your operating system may include app data in its device backups according to your settings.

Optional reminders

The mobile apps can schedule one daily notification on your device if you enable reminders and grant permission. Personalised timing uses recent play times stored only on your device. You can choose a fixed time or turn reminders off in Menu → Daily reminder. Completed puzzles are skipped. No remote push service receives your play times.

Puzzle downloads and hosting

Twine requests published puzzle data from playtwine.com. Cloudflare hosts the website and puzzle downloads and receives network information, including your IP address, as part of delivering and protecting the service. A puzzle request does not upload your saved progress.

Optional usage statistics

Statistics are off until you allow them. If you opt in, PostHog receives gameplay events, device/browser information, technical error reports and a temporary session identifier. The provider also receives your IP address and derives an approximate location, such as city and country, from it. IP-address storage is disabled in our PostHog project. Reports help us understand use and fix problems. They exclude puzzle words, challenge names and challenge link tokens. There are no session recordings, advertising profiles or cross-company advertising tracking.

You can change your choice in Menu → Privacy & data. Turning statistics off stops new reports; it does not delete reports already sent. Reports may be retained in our analytics project while needed for these purposes. To request access or deletion, contact us. Temporary identifiers can limit our ability to identify reports belonging to an individual player.

Sharing and contacting us

Sharing sends your result or challenge, including any name you choose, to the app or person you select. Challenge links encode the result and optional name; anyone with the link can read them. The receiving service handles the message under its own policy. Emailing us shares your email address and the information in your message so we can respond.

Removing saved data

Clear this website’s site data to remove its local saves and preferences. On Android, clear Twine’s app storage; on iOS, delete the app rather than offloading it. This also removes downloaded puzzles. Device backups are managed separately through your operating system. You can contact us about data held by our service providers.

We may update this policy when Twine changes. The date above identifies the latest version.
