Help with Twine

For feedback or help, email hello@playtwine.com. Include your device, operating system and what happened. A screenshot can help; avoid including anything private.

How to play

Make five threads of five neighbouring words, using every square once. Each adjacent pair must make a familiar expression in either order. Move across or down. Tap the question mark in the game for guided practice.

Daily and offline puzzles

New dates unlock at your local midnight. Twine downloads published puzzles when you open or return to the game. Downloaded puzzles and the practice lesson can be played offline. If today’s puzzle is unavailable, reconnect and try again, or choose an earlier puzzle from Archive.

Saved progress

Your saves belong to the browser or app installation where you played. They do not automatically sync between the website and apps. Clearing site/app data or deleting the app removes its local progress. If Twine reports a save problem, keep it open and use Retry save.

Website and app progress

Your progress is saved separately in each browser and app. Saved games and streaks do not transfer between them.

Daily reminder

In the mobile app, open Menu → Daily reminder to enable a daily notification. Choose your own time or let Twine learn your usual play time after three days. Reminders are planned for the next two weeks of available puzzles and refreshed when you open the app. They skip completed puzzles. Device settings, Focus modes and battery saving may delay or silence notifications.

Thread colours

Each thread has the same colour for everyone playing that puzzle, regardless of which thread they find first. The progress bar follows your solve order.

Sound and sharing

Tap the speaker button to enable sound, and check your device volume and audio output. Result and challenge links work on playtwine.com. Verified app links may open an installed Twine app according to your device settings.

Timed challenges are friendly comparisons of locally recorded results. The timer continues while you leave the game. A finished puzzle keeps its original result.
